Implementation in cuba of the CCATT-BRAMS photochemical model
Main Article Content
Abstract
The photochemical model coupled, meteorology - air quality, CCATT-BRAMS is run for the first time in Cuba, aiming to show the feasibility of its implementation in the country. It includes the treatment of biomass burning and allows diagnosis and forecasting air quality. Nested domains of high resolution (27, 9 and 3 km) are used and the concentrations of the main criteria pollutants and their spatial distributions on the study area are obtained, considering all sources of emissions from two variants of bases selected data and a proposed configuration for the present conditions. Based on the results, compliance with Cuban air quality standards for criteria’s gases (CO, O3, NO2 and SO2) was verified in the period studied, based on the maximum admissible values established in them and the established methodologies. By applying three statisticians, the model's ability to simulate the main important weather variables for pollution studies with adequate precision is demonstrated and there is good correspondence between the modeled values and the observations of the station Casablanca for the period under review.
