Abstract
En este trabajo se hace una caracterización del Chorro de los Bajos Niveles (ChBN), el cual constituye un caso particular de máximo de rapidez del viento. Esta caracterización se hizo para la estación de Casa Blanca a las 0700 hora local (12 GMT). El estudio corroboró a la capa entre 200 m y 400 m de altura como la más frecuente de ocurrencia del fenómeno, aunque es posible su ocurrencia en otras alturas por debajo de 1 Km. Los valores de rapidez del viento fueron más frecuentes entre 10 y 12 m/s, aunque en ocasiones pueden superar los 20 m/s. La dirección predominante estuvo entre el sudeste y el este. Para los 200 m superior e inferior al máximo de rapidez del viento, se encontraron características similares en cuanto a rapidez y dirección del viento con respecto al máximo, denotando la alta homogeneidad del fenómeno durante su aparición.
