Agroclimate potential for the use of irrigation in Chuquiribamba parish, Loja, Ecuador

Abstract

It was based on the conditions existing in the parish of Chuquiribamba, belonging to the province of Loja, Ecuador, where agriculture takes place in small places that on average consist of one hectare per productive unit. The predominant products are short-cycle crops such as legumes, vegetables, aromatic plants, medicinal plants and ornamental plants, which are cultivated with a view to being marketed on the local market. Data obtained in Ecuador's Southern Region of precipitation and reference evapotranspiration in previous work were used. The values of the difference and their main statesmen were obtained between precipitation and reference evapotranspiration for 32001 points located in Chuquiribamba parish, which also allowed to make the maps of these differences, which determine water-deficit areas for crops in different months of the year.
