Abstract

In the investigation an analysis of the behavior of the precipitation variable in the province of Artemisa is made, during the transit of the subtropical storm Alberto by the Yucatan Channel. We searched for a history of rainy events in the province of Artemisa and analyzed the synoptic situation that favored the occurrence of heavy rainfall. After analyzing the available information, it was found that the floods that occurred in the municipality of San Cristóbal were unprecedented in some localities and were favored by the presence of a humid soil due to the accumulated rains during the month and the intensity of the rain during the affectation of the bands of feeding of Alberto where the accumulated ones surpassed the 200mm in 24 hours. The month of June 1972 and 1982 was identified as a record of rainy events in the territory
