MET-OLAS, Sistema para el pronóstico de las inundaciones costeras y sus aplicaciones.

Abstract
Como producto final se obtuvo el Sistema MET-OLAS que tiene 3 software que garantizan la ejecución de un método de cálculo para el viento en la superficie marina llamado CTVIENTO, otro para el cálculo de oleaje de viento llamado COMAR y el último para el cálculo de la propagación de la energía llamado CLEMAR1, utilizando para esto el espectro de JONSWAP (Hasselmann et al, 1973).
El sistema MET-OLAS se encuentra operativo en el área de pronósticos del Instituto de Meteorología desde 1996, se aplica para el pronóstico del estado de la superficie marina y la ocurrencia de inundaciones costeras por penetraciones del mar en nuestras costas. En total se ha aplicado en más de 30 situaciones meteorológicas y 21 casos de inundaciones costeras.
