Evaluation of air temperature for dairy cattle of local breeds in Cuba.

Abstract
Considering that the prolonged decline or rise in temperature of the air, from limits considered as favourable, negatively affect the health and productivity of cattle, the present study was designed to determine to what extent is favorable or not the regime of air temperature, for breeding local breeds cattle, in Cuba. lt was used information from 61 weather stations across the country and variables, maximum and mini mal temperature of the air and historical average.The classification scheme temperature was carried out using a scale of 1 to.5 it describes as a «very unfavourable», «unfavourable», «absolutely not favourable», ufavourable» and «ideal». It is concluded that, for Cuba, regime average maximum temperatures is «adverse» throughout the country during the period April to October, surpassing the values of 30 e to 35 C".These conditions of temperature, acting ne¡Jatively on the anirnals, especially when they are exposed to the action of sunlight. «Daily average» ternperature is not as high as for exert negative influence on animals and «rninimurn average» temperature is favorable, which cause no change in the animals,and ailow the animals regain strength trorn the heat daytime, in the night. Farmers are advised to adopt protective measures designed to provide shade for livestock in the hours of noon and avoid heat stress and its negative consequences.
