Study over Camagüey – Sancti Spiritus of climate fluctuation derived from nuclear conflict between emergent powers

Abstract

The occurrence of a low intensity nuclear conflict between two emergent nuclear powers could lead to the stratospheric injection of 5 Tg of carbon aerosols generating as consequence a planetary climate fluctuation. Historical monthly databases of temperature, global solar radiation and precipitation corresponding to meteorological stations in the region Sancti Spiritus – Camagüey were combined with monthly anomalies simulated by the GISS Model E studying climate behavior on that area during the ten years period affected by the climate fluctuation. Results showeda drastic reduction in temperatures and solar global radiation accompanied by an increase in precipitation that would begin the same month of the conflict and extend through the 10 years long fluctuation. The deviation of annual values of the variables studied will be most important during the first 2- 5 years. During that same period there appeared a sequence of years in which mean monthly temperatures wouldn’t be higher than 25 Celsius and behaving as years without summer.
