Abstract

In the present research shows air quality assessment from Guira de Melena municipality, Artemisa province, where was studied the relationship between pollutant emissions from stationary sources, produced by burning solid urban waste and fossil fuels and the behavior of local meteorological variables such as temperature, wind, cloudiness, precipitation, atmospheric pressure and relative humidity. The main pollutants were considered: NO2, SO2, CO, PM10, PM2.5 and NMVOC. Models used local dispersion of air pollutants (DISPER 4.0) and (NC version 3.0), in order to characterize the spatial distribution of pollutant concentrations. Three scenarios were selected for modeling seven o´clock in the morning, one o´clock in the afternoon and the average daily (24 hours), in which we used the values of variables and meteorological parameters for the period 2008-2012. Th e estimated concentrations of gaseous and particulate compounds exceed the maximum permissible in several areas from municipality. Also, we realized an air quality assessment according to the Cuban Standard NC 111: 2004. Lastly, this study constitute a meaning contribution to knowledge about Atmospheric Environmental state of Guira de Melena municipality.
