Abstract

It is showed the feasibility of adaptive mesh refinement techniques to represent meteorological vortex characteristics. The technique used combines the wavelet functions with finite differences to solve the set of partial differential equations belonging to the examples taken. Through the use of wavelet it can be obtained solutions with more resolution just in the needed place, and in this way lessening the computational cost. The obtained solution was compared to the solution of the model by finite differences method, showing the advantages of the proposed tool. The incorporation of this alternative to the forecast models, will allow a more detailed study of the local phenomenon in Meteorology, using less the computational resources.
