Abstract

The study of meteorological phenomena is relevant for their incidence on people, the economy and the environment. The purpose of this work is to carry on a study of homogeneity of inter annual series of percents of occurrence of current weather state codes corresponding to different phenomena, wherever the available information should allow it. The phenomena to be characterized are those identified as: clear sky, smoke, haze, mist, fog, visible lightning, rain, distant rain, showers and thunderstorms, based on the three hourly records of current weather state codes for 69 meteorological stations on the Cuban territory over a period spanning from the onset of the stations until 2010. The study of the inter annual codes series shows an equilibrium for the observations of clear sky codes, for fogs, mists and lightnings decreasing and homogeneous series predominate, there is a preponderance of decreasing series for rain over the station, distant rain and showers while growing series predominate for haze and thunderstorms.
